Pakistan no-confidence motion: Imran Khan government issues show cause notices to disgruntled members

new Delhi: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has issued show cause notices to 14 dissatisfied members of the National Assembly ahead of the vote on a no-confidence motion moved by the opposition to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The government has asked 14 disgruntled members to apologize and join the party unconditionally within seven days, news agency ANI quoted local Pakistani media as saying.

According to Sama TV, the development took place during a meeting chaired by the premier after these members of the National Assembly came out openly, indicating their defiance towards Imran Khan.

Several disgruntled lawmakers have said they will vote “according to their conscience” on the no-confidence motion moved against Imran Khan.

Responding to this, PTI’s cabinet ministers have asked the country’s apex electoral body to play its part on reports of floor-crossing of members of the National Assembly under Article 63-A, The News International reported.

Earlier on Friday, PTI MPs and workers stormed the Sindh House in Islamabad by breaking the main gate on Friday.

PTI activists got furious against the disgruntled members living inside the building.

Pakistan Peoples Party President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari slammed the Prime Minister over the issue and claimed that Imran Khan was trying to provoke a “third force” by using force to create a crisis in the country.

Earlier on March 8, Pakistan’s opposition parties moved a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister in the National Assembly Secretariat, expressing confidence of ousting Imran Khan.

However, the PTI government has expressed confidence of defeating the no-confidence motion.
