ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government is considering launching a sedition case against former prime minister Imran Khan and the chief ministers of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for allegedly planning an “attack” on the federation during a protest here last month. . The committee also reviewed the evidence regarding PTI Long March participants, especially party chief Imran Khan and two chief ministers.
Later the meeting was adjourned till Monday (June 6) for further consultations to make final recommendations to the cabinet.
The Home Minister urged the committee to recommend the registration of a case of sedition by the cricketer-turned-politician to the cabinet in the light of the evidence.
The minister said the march was an armed attack on the federation apart from a rebellion.
He said a formal plan had been made to take the capital hostage and that Khan had instigated his workers through his hate speeches against the federation.
Sanaullah said the marchers were armed and as part of a plan, around 2,500 miscreants had already been brought to Islamabad before May 25 and tried to capture D-Chowk before Khan’s arrival.
He said the armed group not only attacked police and paramilitary forces Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Corps personnel, but also set a metro station on fire.
