Pakistan: Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 hits Islamabad; no damage or injuries reported

Pakistan earthquake: An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Sunday afternoon. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at around 1:24 pm and the epicenter was in Tajikistan.

The depth of the earthquake was measured at 150 km and its longitude was 69.65 East and latitude 38.65 North. Meanwhile, no damage or injury has been reported so far.

Earlier in November 2022, there was an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale in Islamabad. The National Center for Seismology had said that the epicenter of the earthquake was determined at 36.17 degrees north latitude and 71.68 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 120 km.

Has Earth’s inner core stopped rotating?

It should be mentioned here that earthquake data has indicated that Earth’s inner core has stopped rotating faster than the rest of the planet, but not all researchers agree, Nature reports.

According to a study published in Nature Geoscience, the rotation of Earth’s solid inner core has recently stalled and may have reversed.
