Imran Khan launches a scathing attack on Mohsin Naqvi
In a statement lengthy social media post, former captain and Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan expressed his disappointment over the country’s cricket team’s recent dismal show.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister and World Cup-winning skipper Imran Khan is not impressed with the country’s cricket team’s performance in recent times. Imran launched a no-holds-barred attack on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi after the side conceded its first-ever Test defeat to Bangladesh. Imran also lamented Pakistan’s failure to put up a commendable show in the ODI and T20 World Cups. In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Imran expressed his disappointment over the Pakistan cricket team’s recent dismal show.
“Cricket is the only sport the entire nation watches with great interest on TV, but even that has been destroyed by powerful quarters who brought in an unqualified, favored official to maintain their control. For the first time, we didn’t make it to the top four in the World Cup or the top eight in T20,” Imran said, as quoted by his X account.
“And yesterday, we faced an embarrassing defeat against Bangladesh, setting a new low. Just two-and-a-half years ago, this team had defeated India by 10 wickets. What has happened in these two-and-a-half years that we lost to Bangladesh by 10 wickets? The blame for all of this collapse falls on one institution,” Imran Khan added.

Imran Khan also lashed out at PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and claimed that NAB investigated him for corruption back in 2008.
“Every day, people are being martyred in KP and Balochistan. The Punjab Police has been tasked with targeting PTI, which has allowed thieves and bandits to grow so strong that they have started abducting and murdering police officers. Mohsin Naqvi himself was investigated by NAB for corruption in 2008,” read the statement.
The Pakistan cricket team hit a new low after they conceded a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the first Test of the series. The defeat marked Pakistan’s first Test loss to Bangladesh. The historic Test match was played in Rawalpindi. The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to start on August 30.
Pakistan cricket team found itself in a more precarious situation after it was found guilty of slow overrate during the Test series opener. As per a release by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (August 26), the Shan Masood-led side was found to be six overs short during the match.
