Jammu Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said that a huge cache of explosive material including five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was recovered from the disclosure of the arrested accused.

Two explosions took place in Kotarana town of Rajouri on 26 March and two blasts on 19 April in which two people were injured. On 24 April, two more people were injured in another blast in Shahpur-Budhal area of ​​Rajouri.

Acting on the lead, joint teams of Rajouri Police and 60 Rashtriya Rifles (14 Sectors) conducted several raids and search operations at various places in Larkoti, Targain, Jaglanu and Daraz areas of Rajouri and two suspects, Mohd Shabir and Mohd of Draj. He said that during investigation it was found that three accused Talib Shah, village Draj, Shabbir and Sadiq of Budhal area were involved in these blasts.

Singh said that these persons, acting on the instructions of their Pakistan-based masters, obtained arms, ammunition, explosives and later used these IEDs to carry out the blast.

He said it has emerged during preliminary investigation that the group is being headed by Shah, who has collected three consignments of arms, ammunition and explosives from Lamberi-Kalakot area in the months of January, March and April.

Shabbir and Sadiq have been arrested and the third accused (Shah) is absconding. The police officer said Shah is the commander of Lashkar in general area Rajouri and mastermind of all terrorist activities in Pir Panjal area.

He said that Shah has also inspired many youths to carry out terrorist activities in Rajouri.

The Jammu region police chief said Shah has been instrumental in almost all terror incidents in Pir Panjal districts in the last two to three years.

Singh said it has also been learned that the group was harboring some active Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the general area of ​​Kandi-Budhal and making efforts to revive militancy in Rajouri and Pir Panjal districts of Poonch. was.

This is a big achievement for the police and security forces as the blasts had created panic in the area and the accused were planning more such incidents to target the security forces.

The ADGP said that the arrest of two associates of Shah is a big blow to the terrorist organization (LeT).

During preliminary interrogation, he said, the arrested accused revealed that they had hidden some explosive material in the Draj forest and later a joint search operation was carried out by the police and 60 Rashtriya Rifles, in which five IEDs, five remote controls were recovered. 10 fuses and 19 battery cells.

The accused are also suspected to be involved in some more criminal and subversive activities for which they are being interrogated continuously.

Singh said Shah’s arrest was very important in solving several insurgency and criminal cases in the Pir Panjal area during the last few years.
