Rehan displayed his supreme brilliance in the second innings, taking five wickets for just 48 runs. Rehan’s superb bowling was enough to bundle out the hosts for just 216 runs.

English leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed created history on Monday as he became the youngest player in men’s Test cricket history to claim a five-wicket haul in the third match against Pakistan. Rehan had done a sensational feat at the age of just 18 years and 128 days. Rehan’s father, Naeem Ahmed, who was present at the National Stadium in Karachi, burst into joy while his son achieved the milestone on Test debut.

Rehan has so far taken nine wickets at an average of 30 in three first-class matches. He also became the youngest cricketer to play in men’s Tests for England. This teenager broke the record of former cricketer Brian Close. The former Yorkshire batsman had held the record since 1949. Klose created history after making his debut against New Zealand at Old Trafford. However, Holly Colvin still remains the youngest person to play in Tests for England. The left-arm spinner made her Test debut for the England women’s team against Australia in 2005 at the age of 15 years and 336 days.

Rehan started the third Test brilliantly, picking up the crucial wickets of Saud Shakeel and Faheem Ashraf in the first innings. Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored 78 as the hosts reached 304. England’s Harry Brook scored his third Test century in as many matches and guided his side to an impressive score of 354 in the first innings.

Rehan displayed his supreme brilliance in the second innings, taking five wickets for just 48 runs. Rehan’s brilliant bowling was enough to bundle out the hosts for just 216 runs. Chasing a target of 167, England ended the third day’s play at 112/2.

“I try to enjoy it as much as I can. It is the happiest day of my life,” Rehan said at the press conference after the third day’s play.

England have already won the three-match Test series against Pakistan by winning the first two matches. And now a win in the third game would help England become the first touring team to win a Test series in Pakistan 3–0.
