A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who inadvertently entered the Pakistani side of the border in the Punjab sector on Wednesday, was apprehended by the Pak Rangers and is awaiting repatriation. Officials gave this information on Thursday.

This is the second such incident in Punjab’s Abohar sector after a jawan crossed over to the other side during zero line checking on the India-Pakistan International Border (IB) on December 1 last week. The jawan was handed back by Pakistan. Rangers reached BSF on the same day after the flag meeting.

In the latest case, officials said, the jawan mistakenly crossed to the other side due to dense fog and was caught by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday morning due to “extremely poor visibility”. A senior BSF officer said, “BSF and Rangers are in touch and an update on the release is awaited.”
