Pak Drone Shot Down by BSF Women Constables in Amritsar

An all-women squad of the Border Security Force foiled a cross-border drug smuggling attempt by shooting down a drone in Punjab’s Amritsar district. India Officials said on Tuesday that 3.1 kg of the narcotic substance has been recovered from Pakistan.

According to officials, the soldiers noticed the drone entering Indian territory near Chaharpur village, about 40 km north of Amritsar city, on Monday night.

At 11.05 pm, two women constables of 73 Battalion fired 25 rounds at the drone and brought it down. During a search operation, the BSF recovered a partially damaged hexacopter, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with six rotors.

The BSF said the 18-kg drone had 3.11 kg of the narcotic substance, wrapped in a white polythene, attached to its underside.

Vigilant BSF personnel once again succeeded in intercepting a drone and foiling a smuggling attempt. The female personnel shot down the drone.

Another drone was spotted near the Vadai Cheema border post at 10.57 pm on Monday night, an official said.

After BSF personnel opened fire on the UAV, it flew back to Pakistan.

Last Friday, BSF personnel also shot down a Pakistani drone near the international border in Amritsar.
