Know the story of losing your close ones in the accident, in the words of relatives…

I am a resident of Kunwarpur village. My sister’s father-in-law Awadhesh Pandey and Shakuntala Pandey, who live in Powai, first planned to go on Chardham Yatra. On May 15, I got a call from sister that her mother-in-law and mother-in-law’s mother-in-law’s father-in-law are going on a pilgrimage to Chardham. It would have been better if parents had also gone along. After this my father Badri Prasad Sharma and mother Chandrakali Sharma also agreed to go along. On May 20, everyone boarded a bus and left for Chardham, but the registration was delayed for two days. After this, all the deaths were reported in the accident. Due to our kinship, 6 people have died in Devbhoomi. Those who died include my parents, father-in-law of sister-in-law and mother-in-law of sister’s sister-in-law. I was in Surat and came on leave from there only to persuade my parents to visit Chardham. Now I’m sorry I wish I hadn’t done so.

Jagdish Sharma's parents had offered prayers before leaving for Chardham Yatra. They were very excited for the journey.
