Returning home has become even more difficult for Afghan students living in Chandigarh. The visa is about to expire and other family members have also refused to return to Afghanistan, because the situation there is very bad. There are about 100 Afghani students in Chandigarh. Of these, about 25 are doing post graduation. There are some students who do not have money left to even eat the fees. At the same time, the landlords are also pressurizing to pay the rent.

Difficult to increase visa, no money for registration fees
Afghan students say that they do not have money left for registration to get their visa extended. To get the visa extension, you will also have to apply for further studies and pay a fee for this. Even after this, the bonafide certificate will be given, which will be shown to the Afghan Embassy, then the visa period will increase.

Scholarship will also not come from next month
Afghani students who are studying in India came on scholarship. Students have to get the benefit of this only till September. Khatira Noori, who has graduated from MCM DAV College Sector-36, told that the visa expires on 30 September after the completion of her studies. Somebody is going by giving ration for food, but there is no money for other expenses. We need money even if we want to apply for a job, but our money has run out. There is neither scholarship nor money to come from home next month.

Landlord is saying – pay rent or vacate the room
Suhela, who graduated from the Post Graduate Government College for Girls Sector-11, said that due to Corona, when the hostel of the college was closed, they are living outside with a room on rent. Now the landlords are also harassing for rent and are clearly saying that if there is no money then leave the room, if the room is vacated then where will I stay?

Nilofar, who was a student of MCM, says that money has stopped coming from home. The family says don’t come back here, and they can’t even send money. The scholarship is closed after the completion of studies in India. At this time there is neither money nor a place to live. How to survive in India is beyond comprehension.
