It is very easy to make, but it does require some planning as it takes 6 months to pickle lemons.

The following ingredients will be needed to make this recipe:

  1. 6 lemons
  2. 6 tablespoons coarse sea salt
  3. 2-3 Tbs neutral oil
  4. 5 large black cardamom pods
  5. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  6. 1/2 tsp saunf or saunf
  7. 1/2 tsp cumin
  8. 3 tbsp red chilli
  9. 1 teaspoon turmeric
  10. 1/2 tsp asafoetida

Through her new post, Padma shows how she briefly roasted dry spices before grinding them in a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle. Grind the roasted spices coarsely and put oil in the pan.
