Director Pa Ranjith is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Thangalaan featuring Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy, Malavika Mohan, Daniel Caltagirone and Pasupathy in the lead roles. The film’s plot is set in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka. The historical place which was also depicted in Rocking Star Yash and director Prashanth Neel’s superhit film KGF. However, the Yash starrer does not delve thoroughly into the demographics, whereas the Vikram starrer showcases the persecution in the region.

Ahead of the release of Thangalaan, the film’s director Pa Ranjith, during a recent event, revealed that he had to stop the production of the film when he watched the trailer of Yash’s KGF.

Pa Ranjith stated that he had earlier begun preparations for Thangalaan, but when the makers of KGF released the film’s official trailer, it came as a momentary shock and he had to stop work on his dream project. He decided to watch the Yash-starrer action thriller film first and when it was released he noticed that his story was entirely different as shown in the Prashant Neel directorial. Which is why it took him so long to start working on Thangalaan again.

The director, during the film’s event in Chennai, showered praises on the Thangalaan’s lead actor Chiyaan Vikram for his dedication to his craft. He said, “Vikram sir had a rib fracture while shooting for this film. Despite being in immense pain, he continued shooting. I don’t know how he managed it, but he did. He has so much trust in me. I want this film to succeed, especially for him.”

Actor Chiyaan Vikram also shared his experience of working in the film and stated he worked hard on his health and took up every opportunity that came his way for this film. He added that Thangalaan is a special film for him and he had to completely transform himself for the role.

Recently, reports surfaced that the makers of Thangalaan will be hosting a special screening of the film for actor Yash. Jointly produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions, the music of Thangalaan is composed by GV Prakash, cinematography by Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK.
