Shivling is being claimed to be found in Gyanvapi Masjid. The Muslim side had called it the fountain of Wazukhana. Regarding this, the members of the Sangh had questioned how the fountain worked without electricity. Now All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has given the answer. He said on Saturday that fountains have been a part of Islamic architecture since at least the 7th century and were then operated with gravity.

Sharing a link to a New York Times article, Owaisi tweeted. It mentions fountains running without electricity. Owaisi said, ‘Sanghi geniuses are asking how does a fountain run without electricity? This is called Gravity. The world’s oldest fountain was built 2700 years ago. The ancient Romans and Greeks had fountains from the first and sixth centuries.’

Owaisi wrote, ‘Shah Jahan’s Shalimar Garden has 410 fountains. I am giving the link of Wikipedia to the Sanghis, because they cannot understand more than this.

The Hindu side has claimed that a Shivling was found near the Wazhu Khana, which is used by Muslims to wash their hands and feet before their prayers. The Masjid Management Committee claimed that the object which is being claimed to be a Shivling is a fountain.

On the other hand, Vishwa Hindu Parishad chief Alok Kumar on Friday claimed that the Hindu side would be able to prove that the found Shivling is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. He said, ‘We believe that it is Shivling because Nandi is looking at it. This shows that it is one of the original Jyotirlingas and was built by demolishing the Vaju Khana temple of the Gyanvapi mosque complex.

In both the survey reports of Gyanvapi, it was said that the symbols of lotus flower, swastika, bells, trident etc. were found in the mosque.

Supreme Court order
The matter was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. The court transferred the matter to the district judge. At the same time, it was also ordered that the district judge will complete the hearing in 8 weeks. On May 17, the Supreme Court had said three big things in its order.

  • First- The place claiming to be Shivling should be protected.
  • another- Muslims should not be stopped from offering Namaz.
  • third- The order of only 20 people to offer Namaz is no longer applicable. That is, these three instructions will be applicable for the next 8 weeks.
