Over 40 kg of heroin seized at the international border in Punjab.
In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF) seized around 40.810 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 crore along the international border with Pakistan in Amritsar district on Saturday morning, officials said.
The seizure was made in Ramdas sector, about 300 km from Chandigarh. In action, they also seized 90 grams of opium, two plastic pipes from Panjgreyan area.
Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta said in a tweet, “Proud of SSP Amritsar (Rural), Gulneet Khurana and his team for the seizure of more than 40 kg heroin from Ramdas sector of Indo-Pak border at around 3 am today.
He said the operation was carried out on specific inputs received by the Amritsar Police. Punjab shares a 553 km long international border, which has barbed wire fence, with Pakistan.
