Over 4.5 lakh arrested in 7 districts. Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: A record number of beneficiaries above the age of 18 years were captured in seven districts of old Mysore and Malnad region on Friday in the biggest ever vaccination campaign ‘Lasika Mela’.
Mysore and Mandya vaccinated over 1 lakh residents, while Shivamogga captured 98,000 civilians by the end of the day.
Shivamogga ranks first in Karnataka in achieving the target. It exceeded the target set for the day by vaccinating about 94,000 of its eligible citizens against 80,000, meaning it achieved 117% success.
Mysuru on Friday vaccinated just over 1 lakh residents in the first and second doses of vaccination. This figure is the highest in a single day since January 16, when the vaccination campaign was launched in India. Mysuru had engulfed a maximum of 38,000 residents in a day so far and Friday’s figure topped.
Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru have also vaccinated four times more than their first one day vaccination. On Friday evening, Chikkamagaluru captured 54,625, Hassan 81,524, Mandya 102,000, Kodagu 16,000, while Mysuru and Shivamogga captured over 1 lakh and 98,000. Health officials said the figures were approximate and the number could rise.
Mysore DHO Dr KH Prasad said that he has planned the campaign on the lines of pulse polio drive to vaccinate the public. About 6.25 lakh residents in Mysore still have not received their first dose of vaccination. A target of 1.25 lakh was given for the district on Friday but we have successfully crossed the 1 lakh mark.
Kodagu RCHO Dr Gopinath Suresh said that around 71 per cent of the target has been achieved till evening.
The vaccination target in Hassan was 80,000 and officials had achieved 91% success by evening. Officials said the number is expected to cross the 1 lakh mark by the end of the day. More than 500 vaccination sites were built for the drive, with both Covaxin and Covishield available. He had 1.1 lakh doses in the district.
“With the cooperation of religious leaders, the district health department has achieved great success. There are 13.6 lakh beneficiaries in the district, out of which 11 lakh have taken the first dose and 4 lakh have been fully vaccinated,” said district vaccination nodal officer Dr Kantaraju.
DHO Dr Dhananjay TN said that 11 lakh people have been partially and fully immunized so far in Mandya to 13.5 lakh people.
Speaking to TOI, Shivamogga DHO Rajesh Surgihalli said, the district administration set 80,000 as the target and achieved it by 4 pm.
Dr Sharath, Special Officer, Chikkamagaluru Vaccination, said the district administration had set a target of 68,000. Additional department vehicles were hired to reach out to the public.
In Chamarajanagar too, the authorities have seized a record number of eligible citizens. A total of 525 sites, including 49 in urban areas, were established for the special campaign. Around 595 teams with 1,190 employees were deployed. By evening, 53 percent wax coverage had been done in the district.
