Over 20 children test positive for COVID-19 in Noida this week, health advisory issued to schools

The Gautam Buddh Nagar health department on Monday issued an advisory to schools as 10 more children tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of minors who got infected in the district this week to over 20. All schools in Noida and Greater Noida have been advised to immediately inform the health department of any child showing cough, cold, fever, diarrhea or any symptoms of COVID-19.

One of the schools, which on Monday reported infection to 13 children and three teachers, has gone to online mode by next week. The details of other schools could not be confirmed, as it was learned that the 10 children who have now tested positive for COVID-19 belong to different schools. The health department said in a statement that 33 more people, including 10 children, have tested positive for the infection since Tuesday morning and the total number of active cases in the district adjoining Delhi now stands at 90.

“Of the new cases reported today, 10 are children. We have not received any information from their schools, nor have their schools been tested for COVID-19. The schools have not reported the matter. Had that been the case, they would have stopped physical classes and we would have also issued an advisory on the number of school students catching COVID-19 or showing symptoms in a preventive measure against the pandemic.

“You are requested that if any child studying in your school has cough, cold, fever, diarrhea or any symptom of COVID-19, you are requested to immediately contact the office of the Chief Medical Officer on the help line number-1800492211 or Notify using the email id cmogbnr.@gmail.com, so that proper treatment can be made available in time, said the advisory issued by the Chief Medical Officer.
