San Francisco/Washington: Chief Executive Officer of Alphabet Inc., heroine.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp on Wednesday called on Congress to pass legislation aimed at boosting US economic competition against China, including chip manufacturing.
Those officials and more than 100 others signed a letter calling on the US House of Representatives and the Senate, each of which has passed different versions of the legislation, to reach an agreement and call on President Joe Biden for his signature. The legislation includes $52 billion in federal funding to expand U.S. semiconductor manufacturing capacity, which takes place in factories called “fabs,” which is short for manufacturing plants.

SIA is also seeking investment tax credits for semiconductor manufacturing and design in the competition law.
