The past week hasn’t seen a single notable new release on OTT. Surprisingly, now the coming week will be coming up in quick succession with several original films as well as a web series.

Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Vidyut Jammwal are bringing their original films on OTT, which were originally meant for a theatrical arrival. These are Rashmi Rocket, Sardar Udham and Sunak – Hope Under Siege. While Taapsee Pannu has already seen another of her original films [Haseen Dillruba] Directly on OTT, Vidyut Jammwal has also tasted decent success with Khuda Hafiz. However, this will be his first straight-to-digital experience for Vicky Kaushal.
Upon its announcement, Rashmi Rocket seemed like a straight forward sports based drama about a female athlete. However, the promo of the film shocked everyone when it was revealed that at its core was gender testing and the discrimination that followed. Coming on ZEE5, this might prove to be a tough drama. Taapsee has been doing several films where she is the central protagonist (before Haseen Dilruba she did Thappad) and now Rashami Rocket looks like a welcome addition to the list.
Sunak – Hope Under Siege is another out and out action sequence by Vidyut Jammwal and the makers are doing well to promote it as a film that has one of the biggest action stars on the big screen. Vidyut has now become a genre in itself and has always guaranteed safe returns over the years. It was the same with the Commando franchise and despite already seeing a sequel with Khuda Hafiz, seeing only a digital release, there are also good expectations from Sunak – Hope Under Siege, which is coming to Disney+ Hotstar.
Meanwhile, life may well be back for Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri, who were the first producers to seal their straight-to-OTT deal with Gulabo Sitabo last year, something that has followed suit at least. Led 30 notable films. since. Now they are bringing their Sardar Udham to Amazon Prime and the promo promises a classy story that was briefly heard in the history books. Originally titled Sardar Udham Singh, the film should be happily picked up by those who love to watch the stories unfold in the pre-independence era.
For those who love to watch regularly in web series coming out of Indian territory, Sunak – Ek Junoon is releasing on MX Player. Incidentally, Vidyut’s film is also titled Sunak – Hope Under Siege and it is coming out a day before. Craze – For an obsession, this is reminiscent of the theme of the Hollywood movie porn proposition, though with a slight twist. Led by Rohit Roy, who plays Aindrita Ray’s husband and is seduced by an offer made by her boss Pawan Chopra, the series is directed by Vikram Bhatt’s daughter Krishna Bhatt.
