Oppo K10 comes in the most competitive smartphone segment in India. Priced at Rs 14,990 for the 6GB RAM and Rs 16,990 for the 8GB RAM option, the phone may attract many first time buyers who are in schools and colleges or customers who are planning to upgrade their old budget smartphone . Now, one of the cool things about the Oppo K10 is that both the RAM configurations come with 128GB of storage – a must for a smartphone in 2022. Additionally, we find a chunky 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging – another impressive addition in this price range. ,
Like any other entry-level mid-budget smartphone, the Oppo K10 makes some sacrifices to keep the pricing more affordable. This is the first K-series smartphone to enter the Indian smartphone market in a long time. Without further delay, here are five things you need to know if you are planning to get this device.
design: Being the first K-series smartphone in India in a long time, the Oppo K10 is ambitious in terms of design. The rear panel has a dual-textured finish to break up some of the monotony. The bottom of the Oppo K10 has a rough finish, which is good for avoiding fingerprint stains. On the other hand, the upper half has a glossy finish which attracts some fingerprint marks. Interestingly, when you touch the shiny part, you will notice a rough texture that also makes a strange sound when you rub your fingers.
In terms of color options, we received the Black unit, but customers can opt for the Blue option as well. The package also includes a silicone case for protection. Other features include a power button with an integrated fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB-C port for charging. Overall, the phone rests nicely in your palm without feeling too heavy, and the placement of the power button and volume rocker is also thoughtful to use with one hand.
Show: Remember how I started saying that affordable smartphones make some sacrifices to keep costs down. The Oppo K10 sports a much larger 6.59-inch full-HD+ screen, though it’s an LCD screen. Hence, it is not as vibrant and sharp as the AMOLED display, which Oppo’s biggest competitor Xiaomi has started using on its ‘Note’ smartphone. That doesn’t mean the viewing experience is bad, though one can easily see the difference compared to an AMOLED display.
The brightness of the LCD is average (600 nits) under sunlight and the refresh rate maxes out at 90Hz when sister-brand Realme is offering refresh rates of up to 120Hz on select affordable smartphones. The good thing is that the Oppo K10 gets the L1 Widevine certification, which means that OTT apps can stream videos in full-HD resolution.
Display: Oppo K10 is powered by Snapdragon 680 chipset which is designed for affordable smartphones. In terms of benchmarks, the phone scored pretty average marks, and on paper, it might look shoddy. In the Geekbench CPU benchmark, the phone scored 368 points in the single-core test and 1,001 in the multiple-core test. In terms of graphics, the phone barely scored 450 with 2.70 fps in 3D Mark’s 1-minute wildlife test.
But apart from the numbers, the phone was able to play heavy games like Asphalt 9 and Pokemon Unite with slight stutter. Since we are getting an LCD LTPS display, the visuals were not immersive. Switching from one app to another was quite smooth, but the phone got hot during heavy gaming sessions. For social media and web browsing and running productivity-focused apps, the Oppo K10 will not disappoint. We also get Android 11-based ColorOS 11 along with the February 2022 Android security patch out-of-the-box. Budget smartphones usually get software upgrades too late, and that’s another compromise we need to make. The phone gets RAM expansion technology, but our 8GB RAM variant runs smoothly without changing this setting.
battery: The battery life of the Oppo K10 is excellent, and the phone was able to last a full day with ease. This result was achieved with adaptive refresh rate and dark mode enabled. I noticed a battery drop of about 5-6 percent after playing a 10-minute round of Pokémon Unite, which is expected when playing heavy titles. Talking about charging, the phone took about an hour to charge, which is quite good in this price range.
camera: The Oppo K10 comes with a 50-megapixel primary camera along with two 2-megapixel cameras for macro photography and depth sensing. This means that the phone misses out on the lovely ultra-wide-angle snapper which can be useful in a number of use cases. Honestly, I wished an affordable smartphone would include two decent sensors instead of two extra average cameras. The 50-megapixel primary camera delivers reliable performance and pictures are sharp and natural during daylight hours.
Unlike its Samsung counterparts, Oppo focuses on natural tones which may not go down well with some customers. I’m generally a fan of natural colors, and the 50-megapixel captures fine details. Similarly, the 16-megapixel front camera also delivers clear pictures, and details are quite sharp for this price range. However, both the front and back cameras fail to perform in low light – like most budget smartphones.
I’m also not a fan of having a selfie camera because eye movement in photos looks weird with this alignment.

Verdict: Overall, the Oppo K10 checks almost all the boxes you’d expect from a budget smartphone. You get a decent display (if not the best), battery life is solid, and the main rear and front cameras are reliable. However, like most affordable smartphones, the software side is scant and we get loads of bloatware and spam notifications. In that case, the Oppo K10 is a good buy if you are an Oppo fan or have used an Oppo device. But remember, the phone is not 5G ready that some of the rival smartphones in this range have started to offer.
