Listing the welfare measures taken by his government for women, poorer sections, farmers and youth, Modi said, people should compare the situation between 2014 and now, and they would know the difference. He said, Rs 25 lakh crore was spent on the construction of new highways, roads and railways. I consider it a good sign for democracy that our Prime Minister is listing the achievements of his government in the last nine years. In a democracy, the government should be accountable. Modi is right in saying that nine years ago there used to be many cases of corruption. Opposition parties have the right to question the work of the Modi government and assess its performance. But if we look at the Congress campaign, its leaders do not question the performance of the Modi government. The reason for this is that the achievements Modi mentions in his speeches are visible on the ground. Congress leaders spend most of their time calling Modi a “dictator”, maligning and making fun of the Prime Minister.
