Operation Kaveri: Under ‘Operation Kaveri’, an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft carrying 246 Indian evacuees from war-torn Sudan landed in Mumbai on Thursday. According to an official, the plane took off from Jeddah at around 11 am and landed in Mumbai at around 3 pm.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan tweeted a few minutes ago, “Our efforts to speedily send Indians back home from Jeddah are paying off. 246 Indians to be in Mumbai soon, traveling by IAF C17 Globemaster. Jeddah Happy to see him off at the airport.” The plane left for Mumbai.

As part of “Operation Kaveri”, India is airlifting its nationals from conflict zones in Khartoum and other troubled areas to Port Sudan, from where they were taken to the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah in a heavy-lift transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force going. and ships of the Indian Navy.

The distance between Khartoum and Port Sudan is approximately 850 km and the travel time by bus varies from 12 hours to 18 hours depending on the prevailing condition and whether the vehicles are operating during the day or night.

Addressing a special press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan said that India has been continuously monitoring the situation in Sudan since the outbreak of clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and paramilitary forces on 15 April.

A New Delhi-bound flight carrying 360 Indians left Jeddah airport on Wednesday.
