Turkey earthquake: India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), deployed in Turkey for relief operations, successfully rescued a 6-year-old boy from under the rubble of destroyed buildings in Gaziantep area on Thursday.

“Standing with Turkey in this natural calamity. India’s @NDRFHQ is conducting rescue and relief operations at Ground Zero. Team IND-11 successfully rescued a 6 year old girl from Noordagi, Gaziantep today. #OperationDost,” The ministry shared the video saying the moment the child was rescued.

Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter and said, “Proud of our NDRF. Team IND-11 in rescue operation in Turkey saved the life of six-year-old girl Beren in Gaziantep city. Under the guidance of PM Modi, we @NDRFHQ will make the world proud.” Committed to building a leading disaster response force. #OperationDost.”

The girl was wrapped in a blanket while being rescued, with a support device around her neck.

As part of the relief operations, six Indian teams have been sent to the disaster-affected country with medical equipment and essential items.

The combined death toll in Turkey and Syria has passed the 20,000 mark.
