New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was speaking in the new parliament building on Wednesday as the HOuse assembled to discuss the newly passed Women’s Reservation Bill. While speaking on the issue, rahul Gandhi lambasted at the BJP government and ringfenced them on the fact that while the collective opposition sought caste census, the Narendra Modi-led Central Govt has once again led down a illusory bill. However, he accepted the fact that he is support of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
In his address in the Lower House, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said that he stands in support of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
He further said, “Yesterday, while listening to the discussion, the issue of Sengol came up, and a conversation about the transfer of power from the British to the people of India. Before handing over power to the people of India, the British asked the leadership of the freedom movement, “To whom are we going to transfer the power?” A revolutionary answer came from our freedom fighters: “Transfer power to the people of India.”
Meanwhile, he also cited that the Women’s Reservation Bill has left the the collective benefits that the people can churn out on the framework of the bill. Rahul thinks that the bill is devoid of the extent of collective benefits that an individual can reap while being recognised as a reserved category individual.

While appreciatng the Women’s Reservation Bill, and recalling the Indian culture which as a civilisation has ingested respecting women in cult and culture of Indian citizens.
“So, from its inception, our country gave the vote to all our women, which was revolutionary at that time. We also granted the vote to every single community, and the vote served as a mechanism to transfer power. It was designed to empower the people of India further,” he said.
He further added that if we examine the journey from independence, it has been a continuous transfer of power, giving more authority to the people of India. On the other hand, there’s a counter-idea to take away power from the people of India. He also said that this is an ongoing fight. And in many ways the fight is being enacted today on the floor of the new Praliament today.
