Mahmudullah: He hit a career-best 150 not out in a colossal ninth-wicket stand of 191 as Bangladesh came into a strong position at the end of the second day of the first Test against Zimbabwe. Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Bangladesh began the day at 294 for eight, and were eventually bowled out for 468, before Zimbabwe reached 114 for one, still 354 runs behind in the first innings.
takudzwanache catano (33 not out) and veteran right-handed batsman Brendan Taylor (37 not out) will resume on the third morning for the home side.
Mahmudullah and Taskeen Ahmed Earlier stood for the second highest ninth wicket in Test history.
When the latter missed a slog on 75 off Milton Shumba, his stand ended at 191, four runs short of 195 by South Africa’s Mark Boucher and Pat Simcox against Pakistan in 1995.
But it broke Bangladesh’s record of 184 runs for the ninth wicket between Abul Hasan and Mahmudullah in 2012.
The latter reached his career-best score in Harare, which included 17 fours and a six in an unbeaten 150 not out of 278. He took some time to trust his partner at the other end in the stands, but soon allowed the partnership to flourish.
