One civilian killed, 24 injured in grenade attack on Amira Kadal – Kashmir Reader

Srinagar: Unidentified terrorists on Sunday hurled a grenade at a crowded market at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, killing a civilian and injuring two dozen.
An elderly man was killed and 24 others, including a policeman, were injured when a grenade was hurled at a police vehicle in Amira Kadal, police said. The market is full of people and vendors.
“The grenade attack took place around 4:20 pm in the market near Amir Kadal bridge. In this incident an old man of Makhdhoom Sahib Nowhatta died while a girl is seriously injured and is fighting for life.
Besides this, 24 others, including a policeman, received shrapnel but are out of danger.
“In light of this incident of grenade throwing at busy Sunday market near Amira Kadal bridge, police requested all citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to thwart the nefarious designs of (terrorists).
Police said, “Efforts are on to nab the culprits behind the attack.”
Meanwhile, the police have identified the deceased as Mohammad Aslam Makdhoomi, a resident of Makdhoom Sahib Nowhatta.
