He said that on search of Singh’s belongings, the DRI recovered 28 pieces of foreign origin weighing 4641.430 grams of gold worth Rs 2,28,35,836. The DRI arrested Singha and confiscated the recovered gold under the Customs Act, 1962. He was sent to jail after being produced in the district court. During preliminary interrogation, Singha revealed that the gold was smuggled into New Delhi from Myanmar via the Moreh border.
