On the Udaipur beheading case, Manjhi said, ‘Hang it in the middle of the square…’

Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, RJD Vice President Shivanand Tiwari and other leaders from Bihar condemned the murder of a tailor in broad daylight in Rajasthan’s Udaipur and demanded strict punishment for the culprits. Condemning the horrific incident, former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi said in a tweet (in Hindi): “The murder incident in Udaipur was extremely painful and shocking. The law of the land should conduct a speedy trial against the so called defenders. a particular religion and hung them in the middle of a ‘Chowk’ so that others do not commit such heinous acts in the shadow of religion.”

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav tweeted, “I am deeply pained by the barbaric incident in Udaipur. Religious extremism not only blinds a community but also takes away their thinking ability. The perpetrators should be punished immediately.”

“I strongly condemn the murder incident. Those who want to do this heinous crime to create instability in the country. I appeal to the Rajasthan government to give them the harshest punishment so that no one thinks of doing the same again. Don’t dare, IANS quoted Shivanand Tiwari as saying.

According to the information, two accused Gos Mohammad and Abdul Jabbar, residents of Surajpol locality of Udaipur, entered the shop of victim Kanhaiya Lal and stabbed him several times with a dagger and also slit his throat. A video of the incident where the accused had claimed responsibility for the murder has gone viral on social media.

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind condemned the Udaipur massacre

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind on Tuesday condemned the Udaipur massacre and called it against Islam and the law of the land. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind General Secretary Maulana Halsimuddin Qasmi has condemned the brutal murder incident in Udaipur on the pretext of insulting the Prophet (PBUH) and called it against the law of the land and against the country. Islam religion,” reads the statement of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind.

The statement further said, “It has been said that whoever has done this incident cannot be justified in any way, it is against the law of the land and our religion. There is a system of law in our country, no one has the right to take it. Law in your hands. Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi appealed to all the citizens of the country to keep restraint on their feelings and maintain peace in the country.

After the horrific murder of a tailor in Udaipur sparked outrage across the state, the Rajasthan government on Tuesday announced imposition of Section 144 of CrPC in all districts for the next one month.

Police said that soon after committing the crime, both the accused posted a video on social media which claimed to be beheaded and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life was also in danger. Both the accused were arrested within a few hours of the incident.

SIT formed to probe Udaipur head-cutting incident

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the beheading incident in Udaipur’s Maldas area. The SIT consists of Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Special Operations Group Ashok Kumar Rathore, Inspector General of Police (IG), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Praful Kumar and a Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officer and an additional officer. Sources said that a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached Udaipur after the incident. The NIA team comprises a Deputy Inspector General (DIG)-rank officer, a source told ANI, who did not wish to be named, following an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). According to government sources, the NIA team is likely to register a case under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after visiting the crime scene.

The victim, a tailor, had recently shared a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma – the former BJP spokesperson who made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad. Following the murder, local markets in the area were closed as traders demanded justice for the victim.
