On Netflix stand up special, Kapil Sharma mocks PM Modi for his ‘drunk tweet’ that cost him Rs 9 lakh

He began his journey in showbiz with an audition for the musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, tried his hand at theatre, switched to stand-up comedy, and now hosts his own comedy show. Yes, we are talking about comedy king Kapil Sharma. We can go on and on about his achievements, to whose list a new one has now been added. Kapil Sharma is all set to make his Netflix debut with his first ‘Stand Up Special’ titled Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Still. On Wednesday, the 40-year-old comedian announced that his first Netflix show would premiere on January 28. In the much-awaited show, Kapil Sharma will open up about his life, his journey in the film and television industry, and his first Netflix comedy.

Of course, when it comes to Kapil, nothing is dull. He has his own funny way of telling a story, even if it is about a difficult period in his life. In the first five seconds of the teaser, Kapil Sharma makes everyone laugh by making fun of his proficiency in the English language. He then shared that he has been working in showbiz for the last 25 years.

He revealed that he never took comedy seriously as he thinks it is quite normal. “Pata nahi tha yeche ke paisa bhi hai (I didn’t know this was something you could get paid for),,” he says in the clip.

Kapil further adds that as an artiste he always felt the need to do something more, ‘Kuch Aur’ and because Netflix attracts him so much, he decided to share his story on the streaming platform. What do they like the most about Netflix? “First of all, TUDUM SOUND, I find this really exciting!” says Kapil.

It’s not him. The “big news” is that you can even see Kapil singing a song in English on the show. How much fun it is going to be for Kapil to narrate his story in his own style on Netflix, we bet.

Sharing the video, Kapil Sharma wrote: “Let’s hit your Netflix screens on January 28 with my first stand-up special ‘Kapil Sharma: I’m not done still’!”

Later, Kapil Sharma shared a glimpse of his stand-up in which he referred to his controversial tweet to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he accepted as “a drunk tweet.” “I immediately left for Maldives, I stayed there for 8- 9 days. As soon as I reached Maldives, I asked him for a room without internet. He asked, ‘Are you married?’ I replied, ‘No, I just tweeted.’ My stay cost me Rs 9 lakh. I didn’t even spend that much money on my education. But that one line cost me so much,” he revealed, “I want to sue Twitter.” In the infamous 2016 tweet to the PM, Kapil had complained about the BMC. His tweet read, “I am paying income tax of 15 crores from last 5 years and still I have to pay 5 lakh bribe to BMC office to build my office @narendramodi.”

Kapil Sharma is hosting The Kapil Sharma Show these days. She debuted in the TV industry with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3 and worked in films like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Firangi.

Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath are parents to two children.
