Omicron Alert: 10 days night curfew in Karnataka from December 28, ban on New Year’s parties

The Karnataka government announced a 10-day night curfew starting from December 28, in view of the Omron version of Kovid-19, between 10 pm and 5 am. Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Sunday that the decision would be reviewed after the 10-day period is over.

The government has also announced a ban on parties and celebrations related to the new year, with new groups amid fresh COVID-19 concerns and the growing threat of the new Omicron version of the coronavirus.

Sudhakar said, “From December 28, for almost ten days, we would like to see a night curfew called for imposing Section 144 from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning.”

Speaking to reporters after a high-level meeting of senior ministers, officials and the COVID Technical Advisory Committee chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, he said there is a ban on celebrations and celebrations for the New Year.

“There will be no celebrations, parties in outdoor complexes, especially those celebrating with DJs and large gatherings, they have been completely banned in Karnataka,” he said.

The minister also said that eateries, hotels, pubs and restaurants can have 50 per cent of the seating capacity of the premises.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai took the decision on Sunday after a meeting with cabinet colleagues and officials to discuss measures to control the spread of the Omicron version.
