A Delhi government school in Adarsh Nagar, where Olympic silver medalist wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya studied, will be named after a Haryana wrestler, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Tuesday.

The decision in this regard was taken by the Delhi government during Dahiya’s school visit on Tuesday, where he was welcomed by the school staff and Sisodia.

Hailing from a village in Sonipat, Dahiya had studied at Adarsh Nagar Boys Senior Secondary School, which will now be renamed as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya.

Sisodia tweeted, “Olympic medalist Ravi Dahiya was welcomed to his school in Adarsh Nagar today. It was an emotional moment for his teachers. The government has decided that the school will now be renamed as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya. “

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the 23-year-old wrestler won a silver medal after losing to Zavur Uguev of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in the final of the 57 kg freestyle category. Thus he became the second wrestler after Sushil Kumar to win a silver medal at the Olympics.
