CHENNAI: Despite tech startups hitting the pause button on recruitment activities, June hiring was up 10-15% year-on-year and almost flat on a month-on-month basis.
While layoffs in the startup sector impacted the active jobs landscape in June, travel, hospitality, BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) and manufacturing sectors showed data from the overall job market, headhunters and job portals. Among online hiring, travel and hospitality showed the biggest jump in June.

The sector registered 125% hiring growth, according to job.com‘s jobspeak index. Data from Monster.com shows that BFSI, chemicals/fertilizers and manufacturing contributed the most to the overall annual growth in recruitment activity. Monster.com said as companies reimagine the hybrid work model and battle increasingly dwindling numbers, June saw growth of nearly 20% for HR and admin roles.
Times Jobs RecruitX found that June saw the maximum surge for talent in Tier-II cities on a month-on-month basis, with Jaipur (23%), Hyderabad (15%) and Ahmedabad (2%) being the top three. “To offer work flexibility and retain talent, some have hybrid work and work from satellite offices as well,” said Sanjay Goyalbusiness head Times Jobs and TechGig,
