During a check of his documents, the Canadian authorities found the ‘Admission Offer Letters’ given to educational institutions to be fake and the Canadian Border Protection Agency issued him a deportation letter.

Jalandhar Police on Thursday said they have traced the office of a travel agent who allegedly issued fake documents to over 700 Indian students facing deportation from Canada.

Police said the office is located near the city bus depot but it has been closed for six months.

He said that they are verifying other details but so far no complaint has been received in this matter.

Some media reports say that over 700 Indian students are facing deportation from Canada for submitting fake documents issued by a Jalandhar-based travel agent.

The students went to Canada on study visas in 2018-19, but the fraud came to light when they recently applied for Permanent Residency (PR) in the North American country.

Checking his documents, the Canadian authorities found forged ‘admission offer letters’ to educational institutions and the Canadian Border Protection Agency issued him deportation letters.

Reports said that the travel agent had charged over Rs 16 lakh per student for his services.

“We have not received any complaint in this regard so far. But still we are verifying.

He said that the travel agent’s office is closed for the last six months. “We are still verifying and will take action whenever we get any complaint,” he added. In particular, many students from Punjab aspire to go to Canada for higher education and settle there.
