Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar objected to offering Friday prayers at open spaces in Gurgaon, with several Hindu organizations temporarily suspending public prayers on Friday, saying the practice of offering prayers in the open would not be tolerated. .

He also said that the district administration’s earlier decision to reserve some places for open places of worship has been withdrawn and the state government will now find an amicable solution to the issue.

Responding to a question on the objections raised by several people, the chief minister told reporters in Gurgaon, “The practice of offering namaz in open spaces here (Gurgaon) will not be tolerated… Right wing organizations offer namaz in open spaces in NCR city.” do.

“Everyone should get the facility (to pray), but no one should violate the rights of others. It will not be allowed,” Khattar said.

On withdrawing the district administration’s decision to fix some places for prayers at open places, he said, “We have told the police and the deputy commissioner that the issue has to be sorted out… if someone offers prayers, at someone’s place.” We don’t mind if it does.

“Religious places are built for the purpose that people go there and offer prayers. Such programs should not be held in the open,” he said.

He said, ‘Confrontation should be avoided by offering Namaz in open places. We will also not allow confrontation (construction between two parties).

In the past few months, members of some Hindu organizations have been gathering at places where the Muslim community performs ‘namaz’ in open spaces, raising slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Shri Ram”.

Three years ago, the district administration designated 37 sites in Gurgaon city for Muslims to offer Friday prayers, which was followed by protests by some Hindu groups.

A few months ago, a group started protesting against offering prayers in the open, following which protests have been taking place on Fridays for the past several weeks.
