Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Visiting the birthplace of saint poet Bhim Bhoi in Rairakhol on Saturday Sambalpur District Suggested the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct extensive research on the philosophy of Mahima Dharma and include it as a part of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) curriculum.
Bhima Bhoi is a great philosopher of Mahima Dharma. The essence of the Mahima cult, a humanistic cult, can be found in the writings of this nineteenth-century poet. His famous quote, “How can one bear seeing so many plights on earth; let the world be redeemed at my cost,” is inscribed on the wall of the United Nations Organization (UNO) Hall in various languages.
Pradhan paid heartfelt tributes to the statue of the poet and the saint and joined a procession at Rairakhol. “Today the whole world needs to adopt Bhima Bhoi’s philosophy. Incorporate his thoughts and philosophy into course syllabus There will be a true tribute to the great philosopher,” said the Union Minister.
He said that research would be done on the philosophy of Bhima Bhoi and steps would be taken to honor this saint-poet at national and international level. Bhim Bhoi chairs will be established in various universities of the country and abroad for in-depth research on his philosophy. Through this effort the thought and philosophy originated from a saint of this backward place can reach the audience of the world,” he said.
Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Bhubaneswar, a deemed university, has established the Bhim Bhoi Chair and Research Center to promote higher studies and research on the life and works of this saint-poet. Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) Sambalpur has established Bhima Bhoi Anusandhan Peeth to conduct interdisciplinary research in the field of social sciences including literary works/Dalit literature and will create ready solutions to the challenges faced by the marginalized section of the population.
