Pages from a diary adorned with drawings of elephants, fish and the sun, found among personal belongings strewn around the crash site, have gone viral on social media

Following the tragic train accident in Odisha’s Balasore that resulted in the loss of 288 lives, pages of Bengali love poems were found strewn on the tracks next to a severely damaged carriage of the Coromandel Express.

Pages of a diary adorned with drawings of elephants, fish and the sun that were found among personal belongings strewn around the crash site went viral on social media. The scribbles, whose author is as yet unknown, were found near a backpack and waist bag, but according to posts on Twitter, no one claimed them.

“Alpo alpo megh theke halka bristi hoy, choto choto golpo theke bhalobasa srishti hoy”

No one knows whether Kavi survived the accident or not, Chandra Bhushan Shukla said in a Twitter post. “The notebook was among the many personal belongings strewn on the tracks, along with shoes, clothes, suitcases and other items,” he said.

Among the findings, some pages were stained with blood, while others were torn.

Another half-hearted poem on another open page was “Bhalobeshi toke chai sarakhon, achis tui moner sathe…”

Social media users expressed their heartfelt sentiments, calling the findings “heartbreaking” and reflecting the unpredictable nature of life.

Shukla wrote, “The sight of these objects was a reminder of the tragedy’s human cost and emotional trauma.”

At least 288 people have died in a major accident between Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Express and a standing goods train at around 7 pm on June 2.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of the Balasore train accident on Tuesday. The decision to involve the central probe agency came after the FIR was registered, prompted by a preliminary probe highlighting possible tampering with the electronic interlocking system.

Authorities had raised concerns about a possible “sabotage” reason behind Friday’s accident.
