“Like last year, this time also the world famous Mahaprabhu’s Rath Yatra will be in extraordinary condition. ‘Kalia Thakura’ (as mentioned by Lord Jagannath) will be seen on television and social media all over the world.
“Therefore, the rituals of the deity should be performed at the appropriate time and besides the COVID norms should be followed properly during the festival,” the chief minister said.
Observing that the preparations for the big occasion are almost in the final stages, Patnaik thanked everyone for making the Rath Yatra last year without any hassle and wished that the people of Puri city would cooperate wholeheartedly as they did in the previous year. year did.
This is the second consecutive year that the state government is organizing a devotee-less Rath Yatra due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has completely banned the presence of people on the Grand Road in front of the 12th century temple in Puri during the chariot procession.
A day before the Rath Yatra, curfew will be imposed on the grand road to ensure that people do not congregate near the chariots.
Only the servants who are COVID-19 negative or giving both doses of the vaccine will be allowed to pull the chariot.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma said the officers would also have to produce a COVID-19 certificate before joining duty.
The Chief Minister said that although the second wave of the Kovid epidemic has come down significantly, the danger is not over yet.
Attending the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister NK Das said that special arrangements have been made for health care during the Rath Yatra.
