Veteran Odia actor Mihir Das has passed away last month after being hospitalized after suffering a mild heart attack. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Cuttack, where he was put on ventilator support. The 63-year-old actor was a chronic kidney patient who was on dialysis for the past few years. Odia Cine Artists Association secretary Sritam Das confirmed Das’s death and said that he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Several politicians and members of the film fraternity condoled Das’s death. Filmmaker Neela Madhab Panda tweeted, “Heartbroken to hear that veteran Odia actor Mihir Das is no more. Can’t believe he left so soon. A true pioneer of Odisha entertainment industry. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. Calmness.”

Politician Sasmit Patra condoled the demise of the veteran actor and said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of eminent and veteran actor Shri. Mihir Das. His rich contribution to Odia cinema along with his stellar performances will always be cherished and remembered. My deepest condolences to his bereaved family and his millions of fans.”

Former cricketer Pragyan Ojha also condoled his demise:

In a career spanning over three decades, Das won the Best Actor award from the state government for his performances in ‘Lakshmi Protima’ in 1998 and ‘Pheriya Mo Suna Bhauni’ in 2005.
