ODI World Cup 2023: ICC to reveal 50-over WC schedule next week in special event in Mumbai

ODI World Cup 2023: With more than three months to go for the much-awaited ODI World Cup to begin in October, the world looks forward to the high-octane contest in India. The fans are excited about the tournament but they are eagerly waiting for the first official schedule to be revealed. The draft schedule was released earlier and reportedly the official schedule will be released next week.

According to media reports, sources reveal that the ICC will reveal the schedule of the tournament at an event in Mumbai on Tuesday, June 27. The program will be organized at 11:30 am. Also, on June 27, there will be 100 days left for the tournament to begin in October. Notably, a draft schedule was sent by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the ICC, which in turn sent it to the other participating nations earlier this month.

What is draft schedule?

As per the draft schedule, the opening match of the tournament will be played between the finalists of the 2019 edition – New Zealand and England on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India will begin their campaign with a match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. The high-octane India vs Pakistan encounter will be played in Ahmedabad on October 15, which will be India’s third match in the round-robin ten-team league stage. The Men in Blue will play their second match against Afghanistan on October 11 in Delhi.

India will play its games at nine venues across the country, while Pakistan is set to play its league games at five grounds. However, the venues for the semi-finals are yet to be confirmed. These knockout matches are likely to be played on 15 and 16 November. The final of the tournament will be held in Ahmedabad on 19 November.
