ODI World Cup 2023: ICC rerelease fixture dates after Sri Lanka, Netherlands qualified

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday, 13 July, re-released the schedule of the premier event to be held in India. The new schedule was released after Sri Lanka and the Netherlands confirmed their places in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 through qualifiers in Zimbabwe. ,

Sri Lanka, Netherlands qualify for WC 2023

Sri Lanka and Netherlands were the two teams that made it to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

Sri Lanka defeated the Netherlands in the qualifier final in Harare and will open their World Cup campaign against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 7. They ended their group stage campaign on 9 November against New Zealand in Bengaluru.

Netherlands, who finished runners-up in the qualifiers in Zimbabwe, will open their World Cup account against Pakistan on October 6 in Hyderabad. Scott Edwards’ men will end their group stage campaign against tournament hosts India on November 11 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The opening match of the tournament will be played between two heavyweight former champions England and runners-up New Zealand on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. England will take on Pakistan in the final match of the group stage at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

The first semi-final will be held in Mumbai on Wednesday 15th November and the second semi-final will be held in Kolkata the next day. There will be one reserve day each in both the semi-finals.

The final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 and November 20 has been kept as a reserve day.

All the three knock-out matches will be a day-night affair with matches starting at 14:00 local time.

There will be a total of 10 locations – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamshala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Apart from Hyderabad, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will host practice matches from September 29 to October 3.
