Contrary to their calm demeanor, the Kiwi team has often participated in major tournaments and won easy wins. His strategy in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 was no different. The ‘underdog’ again roared loudly as they took on Australia in the final of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

An unpleasant start to the tournament, which saw its defeat against Pakistan, did not dampen the hopes Kane Williamson led the party. Thereafter, they won four matches in a row and made their way to the finals. Ahead of Sunday’s climax match in Dubai, we take a look at the Blackcaps’ journey in the marquee tournament.

After bad luck with the toss, New Zealand’s batting didn’t have much to offer. Pakistan’s disciplined bowling and a short stay of the Kiwi batsmen on the pitch could give them 134 runs on the board. While the New Zealand bowlers were also promising, Pakistan’s Asif Ali (27 off 12) cost the Kiwis their opening game. They lost it against the men with a wicket on the green with seven balls to spare.

New Zealand, starting their redemption journey of the tournament against India, fired on all cylinders. He looked unstoppable as he restricted the Indian team to just 110 runs and chased down an easy chase to win it with eight wickets and 28 balls to spare. It was the Kiwi bowling that enabled them to invite and assure a win over the men in blue. Trent Boult And Ish Sodhi Acted with the ball for the Kiwis as they collectively took five wickets.

Taking on Scotland, New Zealand took the opportunity to express their strong batting lineup and managed to score 172 runs on the board, courtesy of 93 runs. Martin Guptill, Controlled bowling by Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi, the Kiwis managed to win by 16 runs.

New Zealand performed brilliantly in their game against Namibia where the Kiwis won by 52 runs. A collective batting effort put them close to victory for Kiwi pacer Trent Boult and. Tim Southee Who was not only economical but also kept on taking wickets. The lethal bowling attack kept the opposition at a low of 111 runs total.

A low-scoring contest, New Zealand won the required contest against Afghanistan to book their semi-final ticket. Their strong batting followed by a brilliant bowling from the Kiwis led them to an easy eight-wicket victory.

The final game for the Blackcaps in the tournament was indeed a thriller. Chasing a target of 166 runs put on the board by England, New Zealand faced some early hiccups. The game looked good as England progressed until late cameos from Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham helped New Zealand win by five wickets with six balls to spare.
