Mumbai Police has summoned suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma to record her statement on June 25 in connection with her objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad. An official gave this information here on Saturday.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Sharma at the Pydhonie police station in the city earlier this week after his remarks about the Prophet during a TV debate sparked a major controversy.
The officer said the police wanted to record his statement in the case and he has been asked to appear before the investigating officer on June 25 at 11 am.
Earlier, the police had sought video of the debate from the concerned news channel. The BJP has suspended Sharma and expelled another leader Naveen Jindal, who tweeted a similar remark.
