NTA will re-conduct UGC NET. There is a possibility of re-examination in the second fortnight of August.

After several reports of technical glitches during the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) on June 8, the National Testing Agency will now conduct the exam at the affected centres. Notification has been issued in this regard. NIT Calicut and at least four other centers in Uttar Pradesh reported technical problems that led to paper delays and difficulty.

There is a possibility of re-examination in the second fortnight of August. The exam date can be confirmed only after the official announcement.

The server failure at NIT Calicut prevented the exam from starting at its scheduled time of 9 pm and was postponed till 12 noon. As per the Edexlive report, many candidates walked out from the center to protest the mismanagement and demanded re-examination.

However, NIT Calicut officials clarified that the disturbance was not due to infrastructure or any incompetence on the part of the authorities. The new date of examination will be announced soon. The subject-wise and shift-wise schedule of Phase 2 exam will be announced soon.

“The examination resumed with 44 candidates till 12 noon after discussions with the NTA officials and they were given extra time to cover the hours lost due to technical errors. The examination was over by 3.15 pm. Some candidates boycotted the exam and demanded re-examination on the second day. NTA Observer contacted NTA, New Delhi, who rejected the demand for re-testing. He added that the remaining students can complete their paper without any further delay or difficulty.

NTA had announced to conduct UGC-NET (December 2021 and June 2022 merged cycle) for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor eligibility in six days between July 9 and August 14. UGC NET 2021 cycle had to be cancelled. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
