Former MI spinner Harbhajan lauded Suryakumar for his exemplary batting and compared his popularity among domestic fans with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Lasith Malinga.

India’s veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on flamboyant batsman Suryakumar Yadav and said that he is the biggest player in the current Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar has been in incredible form in the second half of IPL 2023 as he hit a brilliant century against Gujarat Titans on Friday. The batting maverick smashed the best bowling line-up of the tournament around the park to hit his maiden IPL ton.

The Wankhede Stadium saw a special performance from SKY as the second highest scorer for MI in the match was Ishan Kishan who scored 31 runs. Surya kept his foot on the accelerator in the slog overs and converted his fifty into a hundred in a very short span of time. His knock helped Mumbai Indians go past the table-toppers with a 27-run victory.

Former MI spinner Harbhajan lauded Suryakumar for his exemplary batting and compared his popularity among domestic fans with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Lasith Malinga.

“I hope he [Suryakumar Yadav] Stays fit and keeps winning matches for Mumbai. When he goes out to bat, everyone takes his name. Once upon a time it was all ‘Sachin..Sachin’, then ‘Malinga..Malinga’, but now there is only one voice, Suryakumar Yadav. I don’t think there is any big player in this MI team,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.

Turbanator described Surya as the best in the business at the moment and said that bowling dot balls to him is a big achievement for bowlers.

“I don’t think there is anyone better than Suryakumar Yadav at the moment. He plays with a different approach and has a great range of shots. Forget taking his wicket, it will be a great achievement for the bowlers if they can get him to dot the ball.”

The 32-year-old hit 11 fours and 6 sixes during his 49-ball knock at the Wankhede Stadium. The flamboyant batsman hit the final ball of the innings for a six over the square leg boundary to reach his maiden IPL century.
