The Special Area Development Authority (SADA) has started collecting fees from the tourists by setting up a barrier on the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel. The amount collected from here will be used for the development of the local area. The number of tourists going from Atal Tunnel to Rohtang is increasing day by day. In such a situation, tax has also been started for providing facilities to the tourists.

Rs 50 for two wheelers, Rs 200 for small cars, Rs 300 for SUVs and MUV vehicles, Rs 500 for buses and trucks. Right now, about 150 to 200 tourists coming from outside states are passing through here every day. The administration also believes that due to the onset of winter season, fewer tourists are reaching. After some time snowfall will also start, which will reduce this number even more. SDM Keylong Priya Nagta informed that the Special Area Development Authority (SADA) has set up a barrier in the North Portal of Atal Tunnel. The amount collected from this will be spent on local development.

Let’s understand how the charge will be

When the tourists coming from outside states reach Manali, first green tax is levied near the potato ground of Manali. Here 100 rupees are taken from bike riders, 200 from private small vehicles, 300 from other passenger vehicles and 500 rupees from trucks or buses. If you want to go towards Rohtang after Manali, then there is toll plaza of NHAI near Dohlu Nala. You have to pay money here too. For one-way bus and truck, 220 rupees have to be paid for small vehicles, 30 rupees. At the same time, now the third fee will be charged on the North Portal of Atal Tunnel. Here the fee is being charged on the basis of 50, 200, 300, 500.

So much money will have to be paid till reaching Lahaul Spiti

If you want to go on a bike till Lahaul Spiti, then 180 rupees will be charged. If you are going by your personal vehicle then you will have to pay Rs 430. If you are going by bus or truck, then a fee of 1220 will have to be paid. This fee is made up of all three places.

Another toll barrier going to be installed near Takoli

NHAI is going to put up another barrier at a place called Takoli located on the Mandi-Kullu border, the work of which is still going on. After some time, tax will start levying here too. In such a situation, tourists will have to loosen their pockets to reach Manali. If you want to go to Rohtang or Lahaul Spiti above Manali, then you will have to spend more.
