Bhopal: Show cause notice issued to Junior Food Supply Officer for giving ‘cold tea’ and ‘substandard snacks’ Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan The Khajuraho airport was withdrawn after the public uproar over the matter. A show cause notice was issued to Rakesh Kanhua, the food supply officer responsible for arranging tea and snacks during the chief minister’s transit visit to the airport on Monday.
The notice issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) DP Dwivedi said, “The indecent behavior of the district administration has put a question mark on the CM’s handling of protocol. This happened because VVIP services were taken carelessly.”
Notice canceled after outrage on social media
However, following outrage on social media over the notice, Chhatarpur District Collector Sandeep GR quashed the notice served by Dwivedi.
A circular issued by Sandeep GR said, “It is clarified that the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh had not made any comments regarding the violation of protocol. Therefore, be sure to withdraw the show cause notices issued.”
After the notice was withdrawn, the SDM said, “Tea and breakfast arranged by Kanhua was not served to the chief minister as he did not stay at the airport but only changed the aircraft at the runway.”
Notably, the development came after the state BJP office intervened in the matter. After facing criticism over the issue, the BJP termed the SDM’s notice as a ‘personal complaint of an employee’.
‘Not possible for MP CM to complain about tea’: BJP media in-charge
State BJP media in-charge Lokendra Parasar said, “The officer issuing the notice should understand that such acts cannot be tolerated. It is not possible that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who likes simplicity, will complain about tea.”
“We have come to know that substandard food (breakfast) was served to the Chief Minister. Also, the tea served to him was cold. The indecent behavior of the district administration has put a question mark on the CM’s handling of protocol. This happened because VVIP services were taken carelessly,” issued Kanhua.
“Why should no disciplinary action be initiated against you. You are directed to file your reply within three days of the receipt of the notice,” it said.
Chouhan and state BJP president VD Sharma were on a transit tour of Khajuraho on Monday. After meeting party workers at the airport, both left for Katni to campaign for the civic body elections.
