Bathinda: Several villages have put up banners at their entrances announcing a ban on entry of politicians, but two such villages in Budhlada block of Mansa district have gone a step ahead.
The gram panchayats of Hero Khurd village and Kularia village have passed a resolution not to allow the entry of any politician in the villages or even to be associated with one. In Hero Khurd the Panchayat has passed the resolution in writing, while in Kularia the Panchayat has passed the resolution orally.
In its resolution, the panchayat of Hero Khurd has warned residents of social boycott and a fine of Rs 5,000 if they campaign for a political leader or call him for electoral purposes. In another resolution, the panchayat has asked residents to follow a roster of delegating duties for participating in farm protests on the borders of Delhi. If any person violates this without any reason, then he will also have to pay a fine.
A meeting of local people was called in Kularia, where Punjab Kisan Union Babbu Singh, general secretary of Block Budhlada, sought their opinion on the ban on entry of politicians into villages and residents gave their consent by voice vote. He also asked the Sangh to put up banners announcing this at all the entry points of the village.
