Varun Chakravarthy took 3/27 as Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs
IPL 2023 had a touching end to the proceedings on Wednesday night as Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy dedicated the player of the match award to his newborn son Aathman and wife Neha.

Speaking to the presenter after collecting his award for taking three wickets and playing a crucial role in KKR’s 21-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore, a soft-spoken Chakraborty said, “I attribute this (performance) to my newborn baby.” Would like to Son, still not able to see her, I want to dedicate this to her and my wife.”
When Harsha Bhogle asked when he would be able to see his family again, Chakraborty got a little emotional.
“After IPL,” replied the KKR star.
Chakraborty has been brilliant for KKR.
He has so far taken 13 wickets in eight matches and is third in the list of highest wicket takers in the current season.
Interestingly, seven of his wickets have come against RCB.

Asked what he has worked on ahead of the season, the 31-year-old said, “Focused more on my accuracy rather than more variations. I didn’t want to add more variations and (thought) it’s time to be precise. So that’s what I’m working on.”
Chakraborty thanked KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and Tamil Nadu spinner AC Prathiban for helping him work on his bowling.
“I am working a lot and I want to give credit to AC Prathiban, he is working for me and even for Abhishek Nair. So I want to thank him,” he said.

Chakraborty is enjoying the challenge of bowling in the Powerplay.
“I like a challenge and Nitish (Rana) is giving me the ball whenever he wants me to work. So, I like it,” he said.
With this win, KKR have moved up to seventh in the table and will next take on defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens.
