Not a single pothole should be visible on Goa’s roads from November 1, CM Pramod Sawant tells PWD. Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: Now that the monsoon is over, not a single pothole should be seen on the roads in the state from November 1, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant On Saturday, told the officials of the Public Works Department (Public Works Department)
“I know it has rained heavily this year. but not from 1st of November pit We should take it upon ourselves,” Sawant said after inaugurating the new PWD annex building next to the department headquarters. Tall.
Sawant also urged the department to focus on delivering quality constructions expeditiously.
“You guys are planners. I know MLAs, Sarpanch and Panch keep coming to you and ask you to complete some projects. But you all are in the best position to plan. You need to analyze first whether any certain work is required. I see that sometimes we are spending 1.5-2 crore rupees on the construction of a paver block road. We need to analyze how much the project is really worth We need to use government revenue for those jobs which are priority. Even if a panchayat tells you, that is not a priority. You need to decide what is the priority,” Sawant said.
He said that the condition of government buildings in many places is bad. “We have a lot of buildings which are in dilapidated condition. We are spending money to demolish them. I feel bad We should see how the buildings under each division can be reused.
The CM said that many buildings have been constructed by the earlier governments, but no one has stepped into them and now they are falling.
“One such example is the tourism department building” keris, which was constructed and inaugurated, but no one ever entered. No roof tile or door exists today. I handed over the Veterinary Department building as a guest house Indian University of Forensic Sciences of the Home Department of the Central Government. It will be put to good use. We need this kind of vision,” Sawant said.
He further said that the Vastu wing of the Public Works Department should also adopt Swayampurna Mantra, which indicates that the use of consultants should be reduced by spending extra money. Sawant said, “PWD should design more buildings on its own as it knows Goa’s climate very well and what type of buildings should be constructed.”
He also encouraged the department to collaborate with the Water Resources Department to solve the problem of water scarcity in the state.
