Boris Johnson’s supporters thought the Northern Ireland Protocol would negatively affect UK PM Rishi Sunak but they have been proved wrong

Aides of Boris Johnson do not believe that the former Prime Minister of Britain and the head of the Conservative Party will be able to return. Guardian said in a report.

The report also states that factions within the Tory party are more eager to support UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ahead of a general election in the UK due in early 2025.

His aides feel that his post-Brexit deal with the European Union could lead to a decline in his popularity even among his allies. Jacob Rees-Mogg, the former Commons leader, urged fellow Tory MPs to “stand with Sage Sunak” and “calm down”.

Speaking to UK’s ITV, Rees-Mogg said that it would not seem mature for a party like the UK’s Conservative Party to keep changing leaders from time to time.

However, a section of his allies feel that Johnson may present a fresh challenger if the Conservative Party fails to perform in the upcoming local elections.

people familiar with the developments told Guardian That there is not much fighting left between Boris’ allies and that there is also a lack of coordination among them. In October, 100 MPs who privately support Boris Johnson also said that the demand for his return was waning. Guardian,

“We are getting close to the general election, it is just around the corner. We have run out of time for Boris’s antics.’ Guardian,

Another MP told Guardian While some expected Rishi Sunak and European Union President Ursula von der Leyen’s Northern Ireland Protocol talks to damage Sunak, the reality differed from those expectations.

The MP said Johnson could be “humiliated” by Sunak’s announcement. Despite Boris Johnson’s supporters boasting that any change to his Northern Ireland Protocol Bill could bring 100 Tory MPs to revolt, the reality is that their leader himself has chosen to remain silent on the issue.

an expert told Guardian That the Northern Ireland Protocol talks were a “significant event” that put Boris Johnson’s allies on the backfoot. However, some of his critics within the party say he still wields considerable influence among party workers.
