Northeast’s First Vande Bharat Express Arrives At New Jalpaiguri Station: Check Pics

Katihar, Northeast Frontier Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Chilwarwar said on Saturday that Northeast India will soon get its first Vande Bharat Express train running from New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati.

Train (Up-22227-Down-22228) will run six days a week between New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati, covering a distance of approximately 410 kms in 6 hours. The train will leave from New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri and reach Guwahati in Assam, the ADRM said.

The semi-high-speed train on this route is expected to cut travel time between the two cities. Currently, Rajdhani Express is the fastest train on the route, completing the journey in eight and a half hours. It is noteworthy that these cities are about 700 km apart.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday flagged off Odisha’s first Vande Bharat train from Puri to Howrah via video conferencing. After the launch of Odisha’s first Vande Bharat train, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that PM Modi has set a target that Vande Bharat should reach almost all the states by June this year.

Speaking to ANI in Howrah, Vaishnav said, “PM Modi has set a target that Vande Bharat reaches almost all states by June…Vande Metro is designed for a distance of less than 100 km and for daily travel of passengers going. ”

After reaching Howrah by traveling in the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express later on Thursday, Vaishnav described the journey as extremely comfortable. The Union Minister said, “The journey was extremely comfortable and the best part of the journey was interacting with the youth and passengers.”
